The course

Musical Class, devised by Giuliano Peparini, Andrea Rizzoli and Peppe Vessicchio, is an advanced training course for singers, dancers and actors aged between 18 and 27 years lasting three years.

The Musical Performer professional training aims to deepen the different disciplines in a stimulating and inclusive environment, where students can efficiently explore their artistic potential. The programmes are carefully designed to embrace the many souls of musical theatre.

This immersive experience will mark a significant milestone in their journey to become not only accomplished performers, but to prepare them for the world of performance in all its genres.

The work schedule of the Musical students will be 6:30 hours daily, Monday to Friday inclusive, allowing them an in-depth exposure to the different disciplines and theoretical subjects that are indispensable for the soundness of an artist’s training.

During the study period, students will have the opportunity to be hired for productions and shows related to the academy’s undertakings.

Objectives

Warming up, cooling down, chordal alignment and vocal recovery in relation to performance requirements to achieve a complete and healthy balance of output.
First passage of register, mixed register and use of vowels. Theoretical-musical in-depth in relation to the practical study of the vocal tract and the development of verticality and horizontality.
Tongue, masseter muscle, knees, posture. Exercises useful for vocal improvement and refinement by improving laryngeal stability and balance during vocal training, before and during performance.
Extrinsic laryngeal muscles. Improvement and training exercises to strengthen, improve and create balance in any phonation of the spoken or sung voice.
The ‘American Mix’. Connecting all the registers of the voice with simplicity, giving elasticity without break, in order to re-establish balance, power, projection and control from the lowest notes up to the very top of the register and overtones.  Improvement in the use of vowels, in order to maintain a stable and secure output. Identification, awareness and training of the various register transitions in relation to the vocal registers in the male and female voice. Correlations and differences.
Comparing Musical types of vocal projection: Pop-Legit and Mixed. Analysis of various vocal and musical styles, from pop to jazz to opera for an inter-methodological and interdisciplinary view of singing.
“Bio-electric and muscular warm-up” practised through exercises created exclusively for this course. Training of neuromuscular memory to promote more effective intonation of intervals when alternating front and back vowels. All through exercises created exclusively for this course.

Requirements

All participants must be from 18 to 27 years of age. The course has a finite number of participants.
